This week we explored digital storytelling, here is the video i made to go with a poem to teach about the 4 seasons.
For some reason my blog cuts off the side of my video. you can watch it at this link.

I also watched some videos from people in my class,

1. Allie Becker
I loved this video! I would have never thought to have the students make predictions to go along with the video. what a creative way to explore this curriculum standard. I loved how she took the pictures herself!

2. Ashley Daley
Ashley's video was a trailer for the book the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. I think it would be great to show the students this before reading the book and have them try to guess what will happen as the book goes along.

3. Sabrina Huyett
I loved the trailer she made for hatchett! the music was so intense and really help to set the mood. It made me want to go read the book. job well done!'

4 Becky Edmonds
Loved the photos she used in her video. they made it more interesting to watch. i think kids would be a lot more engaged in this video than they would be just learning the alphabet doing worksheets.

5. Nicole Mahas
Her video on how to keep from getting sick was so fun. I loved the pictures she took and i think it would be really fun to show this movie to children. I think they would learn a lot from it.

6. Rachel Hamilton
I loved the use of all the different pictures of the babies. It would be really fun to do this in a class and place in pictures of all the children and then show it to them.

Web 2.0

This week I created a wiki! the link to that is http://emiliedjones.pbworks.com/

This week I learned that integrating technology into your classroom will really enrich the lives of your students. When i am a teacher i think creating a class wiki is an excellent idea. It allows the parents of students to be able to follow along with what's going on in class, as well as see a calendar of upcoming events, take surveys, look at pictures, etc.

The most difficult thing I did this week was trying to get all the little portions into my wiki. It was very time consuming, but it ended out great. The most useful thing was definitely learning all about wiki's and exploring the different things I can put into it to make it really useful and practical.

Here are some screenshots of websites I have visited this week:

Education

One of the main reasons why i love education is tied to the fact that i love working with children. I love to teach them something and see the spark in their eyes when they have learned and understand new knowledge. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I think that as human beings, we are always trying to seek out knowledge and learn to fill the empty spaces in our lives. Through teaching I am able to continually learn and grow as I teach. There is never a dull moment when teaching children, and I look forward to learning something different every day.
